Fresh Water

Our theme this year: The Three Cs of Freshwater: Community, Controversy, Conservation introduces students to an issue of special concern – Florida’s Freshwater. The poster, tabloid, website and community mapping project require you to use maps and other sources to learn more about water and to apply that knowledge to news events unfolding today. We often hear about natural hazards, pollution, new water rights agreements or stories of tourists vacationing on Florida’s beaches but we rarely stop to think about our connections to this very important issue, namely how we can protect our freshwater in Florida. The goal is to heighten awareness of the conservation efforts, community opportunities and water related controversies in our home state of Florida.

Students from all around the state are asked to think about their favorite place in their community that has a water theme and share that place with us by Wednesday, November 17th. The place should be somewhere you would take a visitor or new friend that is moving to your community to relax, enjoy or have fun with water.
